Rookie Terry Rozier from Louisville was one of the many Celtics who performed well as the international series for the Celtics is now complete with a 111-96 victory over Real Madrid (not the soccer team). Terry Rozier scored 14 while PF David Lee had a double double (13 points 11 boards along with 4 assists) while battling an illness that has also affected fellow PF Amir Johnson. Guard Avery Bradley had himself a day as he led the hungry Celtics with 17 points and shot 3 for 4 on three pointers. Bradley now in the past two contests is 7 for 8 behind the arc and hopes to continue his near perfection 3 pointers back to America when they pay a visit to Brooklyn on October 14th.
Coach Stevens pulled near even in this game was the spread this time was 15 compared to 33 against Milan. The Celtics showed their offensive dominance with the perimeter being filled with tons of upside with Smart, Rozier, Hunter, Thomas, Jerebko, Olynyk, etc. The paint down low was all David Lee the past two games but fellow big man Jared Sullinger shed some weight in the offseason and is working up to thrive in the paint while continuing to show his range behind the arc from time to time. Sullinger put up 7 points and 6 rebounds but contributes well to the team with his ability to get offensive boards at 6’9 and 260 pounds. Evan Turner was another key asset to the C’s last year and hopes to continue to get minutes as the versatile guard and swingman. Turner put out three triple doubles last year which was a very positive sign that the C’s have someone that can do it all from a point guard or shooting guard. With Turner being the versatile player he is, G Isaiah Thomas knows how to put the ball in the net from all points on the floor. Scoring 15 was a low day for Thomas as he is capable of scoring near 30 a game when the opportunities are there. After acquiring Thomas via trade, he has been a fantastic player on and off the court.
The Celtics are red hot through 2 exhibition games but hopefully this translates to the regular season. GO CELTICS!!!
