ESPN’s Chris Broussard is hearing the Celtics could have interest in Spurs forward DeJuan Blair.
Broussard claims the Spurs tried to dump Blair in Detroit, but they wouldn’t take him.
The Celtics have nothing to offer San Antonio, except maybe a 2nd round draft pick. So, unless the Spurs are strictly in a salary dump mode (and they are up against the cap), the Celtics are a long shot to land him.
Blair, once a regular contributor in San Antonio, is averaging 13.7 m,pg, 5.2 ppg and 3.9 rpg.
On the bright side, he’s not a risk for an ACL tear, because he’s missing those ligaments in BOTH knees.
As far as replacements for Leandro Barbosa, ESPN Insider Kevin Pelton says Maine’s Shelvin Mack might be worth a 10-day contract.
According to the ESPN scouting report, Mack is:
- Smart, solidly built pick-and-roll point guard. Good handle but lacks athleticism.
- Disappointment as a shooter. Solid rebounder. Struggles to create offense.
Sounds like the anti-Barbosa. Crap.
