While there is no concrete word from the team at this time, word going around is that quarterback Sam Bradford will be an Eagle come March 9 when free-agency kicks off.
Bleacher Report’s Jason Cole first reported that the feeling around the league is that the Eagles and Bradford will come to an agreement on a deal before he is slated to become a free-agent.
Despite the Eagles disappointing season, Bradford put together a solid campaign, completing 346 of 532 passes for 3,719 yards, and 19 touchdowns.
Once the season came to an end, focus immediately turned to whether the quarterback, who missed a majority of the previous two seasons, earned a long-term deal. It was initially thought that Bradford’s asking price was around $25 million, but now it looks as if the Eagles will try to get the six-year pro back for around $16-18 million per year.
Bradford does not necessarily need to sign a long-term deal right now to remain with the Eagles through 2016. With one year left on his deal, the Eagles could place the franchise tag on Bradford, likely earning him around $19.5 million for 2016.
Many members of the Eagles organization, including vice president of personnel Howie Roseman, have expressed their desire for Bradford to lead the Eagles offense going forward.
