Russell Wilson hasn’t seen live pitching since a 61-game stint in with the Class-A Asheville Tourists in 2011, but that isn’t stopping him from hitting Spring Training.
According to reports, the Seattle Seahawks quarterback is again planning on joining the Texas Rangers sometime this spring to get in some extra work. Wilson showed up last year as well.
In 2013, Texas selected Wilson in the Rule 5 Draft and immediately put him on the Double-A roster. He was moved to the Triple-A roster this offseason to avoid anyone else from snatching him up. That said, my guess is the two-time NFL All-Pro isn’t going to be heading back to the diamond anytime soon.
Wilson spent two seasons as an infielder in the Colorado Rockies system. He hit .229 in just 93 games.
