Updated: Ryan Malone Busted For DUI And Cocaine Possession

RMalonearrestLightning forward Ryan Malone was arrested this morning on charges of driving under the influence and cocaine possession.

The Hillsborough County Sheriffs report states that Malone was arrested at 3:23 AM on Platt Street and Rome Avenue S. He was being held on $2,500 bond. Malone was arrested after driving erratically. He refused a field sobriety test. 1.3 grams of cocaine were found on him. Malone eventually submit to a breath test with results of .12 and .16. The vehicle was impounded.

“We are aware of the situation concerning Ryan Malone this morning,” general manager Steve Yzerman said in a statement. “Ryan will not travel with the tem to Washington today, but beyond tht we cannot comment further at this time.”

According to county records since June 22, Malone has seven traffic citations. He has an April 30 court date for driving with a suspended license.

Malone did not play in Friday night’s win over Columbus. It was the third straight healthy scratch for him. He has been limited to 15 points over 57 games this season.

From Sports Talk Florida. Here is the report from the Tampa Police Department:

 Tampa Police Officer Visser was on patrol when he observed the driver
of a 2014 Chevrolet Suburban make a left turn from the center lane at S.
Armenia at W. Platt St. The driver then struck a curb at S. Howard Ave & W.
Platt Street. Officer Visser conducted a traffic stop and came in contact with
the driver. The driver exited from his vehicle and the officer noted an odor
of alcoholic beverages emitting from the driver’s breath. Officer Visser began
to conduct a DUI investigation. The driver refused to take field sobriety
tests and he was subsequently arrested for DUI. A search incident to arrest
revealed 1.3 grams of cocaine in the drivers right rear pocket. The driver was
transported to CBT where he submitted to a breath test. The results were .112
& .116. The driver was charged with DUI and possession of cocaine. The
Chevrolet Suburban was police impounded.

Malone has since made his bond of $2,500 and has been released.
