Ryan Reaves has signed a new four-year, $4.5 million extension with the St. Louis Blues. Reaves was set to be an unrestricted free agent at the end of the 2013-14 season, but the Blues addressed the issue early and locked him up with a new contract near the season's midpoint.
Reaves will enjoy a nice raise from $625,000 a year to $1.125 million a year under his new contract. The raise is well deserved as Reaves has proven he's much more than just your average enforcer. As we really started to see after the lockout last season, Reaves is more than capable of handling the puck and actually has a pretty nice wrister. He can deliver big hits, cycle the puck and as an added bonus he can pummel just about any player in the league.
Great to see Reaves will be with the Blues through 2017-18.
