Sabres lose to Washington in OT (Video highlights)

Well the Sabres are back!! And it’s preseason! oh joy! Look I hate preseason in any sport. But in the interest of getting my Sabres content up, I have to cover them. The Sabres made their preseason debut against the Caps losing 4-3 in OT. In case you were wondering, the immortal Patrick Lalime was in net for half the game and was relived by Jhonas Enroth. Goal scorers for the Sabres were Jason Pomminville, Clark MacArthur, and Tim Kennedy (Sweet goal and pass from Nathan Gerbe).

The Sabres did what they normally do, started off slow but turned it on in the third period by scoring all 3 of their goals. I didn’t watch the game but from reading reports, Tyler Myers logged a lot of mintues (21:01) and newly signed Tyler Ennis was very active along the boards.

Going back to my hatred to preseason, the Sabres preseason will mean more than the Bills because the majority of Sabres players are playing for jobs on the team. And we aren’t talking 2nd stringers. We are talking the 5th and 6th defense pairings are up for grabs, along with the front line. I will get more into who I would want to make the Sabres squad in the coming days. But I’d tell you what, I’m not into the same people wasting space.

BTW, what the hell is WGR doing a live remote from the HSBC Arena today? Seriously, it’s fricken preseason! You can have a remote, but you can’t send fucken Nick Mendola to Foxbourgh Mass. for the Bills Season opener to get soundbites? What’s the plans for the season opener? A 24-hour radio marathon talking about the life story of Larry Quinn? Maybe throw in the old faithful WGR topic of “your favorite Aud moment” they have run 20x a year. I know, I know, I’m harsh on the WGR/Sabres relationship. But seriously, it’s preseason! Be a little fair in your media coverage.
