The Sacramento Kings have made another move ahead of today’s trade deadline. The Kings have acquired Roger Mason Jr. and cash from the Miami Heat in exchange for a protected second round pick.
The deal has yet to be announced by the Kings, however the Heat have officially acknowledged the trade through a press release.
Mason Jr. will not be suiting up in a Kings a uniform. The Kings plan to waive 33-year-old veteran, who makes approximately $900,000 this season, once the trade clears the league office.
As part of the deal, the Kings will deal “a future conditional 2015 second-round pick” according to the Heat’s press release. There’s no word on how much cash the Kings are receiving from the Heat to eat the remainder of Mason’s contract.
The 33-year-old guard played 25 games and started twice this season, including in the Heat’s Dec. 27 game against the Kings. He has averaged three points while shooting 37.3 percent from the field in 10.4 minutes per game.
