With just two healthy bodies, the Sacramento Kings are adding some depth to their backcourt. The Kings announced today they have signed 22-year old guard Jared Cunningham to a 10-day contract.
At 6-foot-4, 194-pounds, the former Oregon State Beaver will get a shot at backing up rookie Ben McLemore for the next six games. His 10-day contract will end April 9, following the Kings matchup with the Portland Trail Blazers.
Taken with the 24th overall selection of the 2012 NBA Draft by the Cleveland Cavaliers, Cunningham has bounced around the league in his first two seasons, being packaged in a multi-player deal twice on draft night.
He has played a total of 48 minutes over 13 combined games for the Dallas Mavericks and Atlanta Hawks in his career. Before being waived on Feb. 22 by Atlanta, Cunningham played just five games in a Hawks jersey and 22 games with the Bakersfield Jam of the NBA D-League. While his NBA stats are limited, he averaged 16.5 points, 5.0 assists and 3.8 rebounds in 31 minutes per game with the Jam.
