The Sacramento Kings will tip-off their 30th season in California’s state capital at 1 Sports Parkway. The NBA released the 2014-15 schedule this afternoon and the Kings will start the season off by hosting the Golden State Warriors at Sleep Train Arena on Wednesday, Oct. 29.
Notable tidbits on the Sacramento Kings’ 2014-15 schedule
- Though they start the season at home, the Sacramento Kings face a road-heavy schedule to open their upcoming campaign. They play six of their first nine contests on the road, which includes a four-game Western Conference road trip beginning in Phoenix on Nov. 7.
- They get their first crack at the defending champion San Antonio Spurs in a Nov. 15 contest at Sleep Train Arena.
- The Sacramento Kings will play on national television seven times, six of which will be broadcast at home. TNT will broadcast two games (Nov. 20 vs. the Chicago Bulls and Dec. 11 vs. the Houston Rockets). ESPN will broadcast one game (Dec. 16 vs. the Oklahoma City Thunder). NBA TV will carry four games (Dec. 5 vs. the Indiana Pacers, Dec. 13 vs. the Detroit Pistons, Dec. 27 vs. the New York Knicks and Mar. 14 at the Washington Wizards).
- Isaiah Thomas makes his return to the capital city when the Sacramento Kings host the Phoenix Suns on Dec. 26.
- The Sacramento Kings will get nine days off in between games during the NBA’s new extended All-Star Break. Their last game before All-Star Weekend is Feb. 11 at the Milwaukee Bucks and the first game back from the break will be at home on Feb. 20 vs. the Boston Celtics.
- They’ll spend the most time at home in December. The Sacramento Kings play 11 of their 15 contests in the month before the start of the new year.
- The longest home-stand of the year for the Sacramento Kings runs from Jan. 7-17. During that stretch, LeBron James will make his first trip back to Sacramento as a member of the Cleveland Cavaliers on Jan. 11.
- The Sacramento Kings face 17 back-to-back sets this upcoming season. There are home-and-home, seven are away-and-away, two are away-then-home category and five are home-then-away.
- The Sacramento Kings’ longest road trip of the season is a seven-game trek starting Mar. 4 at San Antonio and concludes Mar. 14 at Washington DC.
- The Sacramento Kings will close the season with a pair of games against the Los Angeles Lakers. They’ll host the Lakers in their home finale on Apr. 13 then travel south to Staples Center for their season finale on Apr. 15.
