Ray McCallum is headed back to the D-League.  The Sacramento Kings announced today that the rookie guard has been assigned to the Reno Bighorns, their D-League affiliate.

McCallum was originally slated to head to Reno on Sunday, but the Kings canceled their decision and made him available for yesterday’s game against the Cleveland Cavaliers.  He played five minutes in the game, which turned into a blowout, making his first NBA three-pointer with 55.7 seconds left in the fourth quarter.

This will be McCallum’s second assignment in Reno this season.  In his first stint, he averaged 22 points, five rebounds, 3.7 assists and 1.33 steals in 38 minutes per game over three contests. McCallum was last assigned to the Bighorns on Nov. 21 and then recalled on Nov. 27.

In eight appearances off the Kings’ bench this year, the 36th overall pick in last year’s NBA Draft is averaging 0.9 points, 0.5 rebounds and 0.3 assists in 2.8 minutes per game.
