When Tyreke Evans hits the open market next week, he’ll do so as a restricted free agent. The Sacramento Kings announced today that they’ve extended a qualifying offer to the fourth-year swingman. From the official press release:
Evans averaged 15.2 points (.478 FG%, .338 3pt%, .775 FT%), 4.4 rebounds, 3.5 assists, 1.38 steals, and 31.0 minutes per game in 65 contests with the Kings last season, of which he started 61. Selected by Sacramento as an undergraduate out of Memphis with the fourth overall pick of the 2009 NBA Draft, Evans was named the 2009-10 NBA Rookie of the Year after averaging a team-leading 20.1 ppg (.458 FG%, .255 3pt%, .748 FT%), 5.3 rpg, a team-best 5.8 apg, 1.51 spg, and 37.2 mpg in starting all 72 games in which he played. Evans is averaging 17.5 ppg (.449 FG%, .276 3pt%, .765 FT%), 4.8 rpg, 4.8 apg, 1.4 spg, and 34.9 mpg in 257 career games in four seasons with Sacramento.
The standing, one-year tender is worth approximately $6.9 million according to Storytellers Contracts. Fourth-year players Toney Douglas and James Johnson are also eligible to receive qualifying offers from the Kings. They have until June 30th to extend one-year tenders to both Douglas and Johnson for next season. However, they are not expected to do so.
