Updated 12:45pm, Sunday 11/9/14

Yesterday afternoon, the Sacramento Kings added both of their star players to the injury report for today’s game against Oklahoma City.  DeMarcus Cousins is suffering from a sprained right thumb and is probable.  Rudy Gay was initially listed as  questionable with a virus, but now has been upgraded to probable and is expected to join Cousins in the starting lineup today as the Kings go for the sixth straight victory.

Cousins is off to a fast start for Sacramento, averaging 24.2 points, 11.8 rebounds and 1.3 blocks in 29.8 minutes per game.  Opposing teams are struggling to stop the 24-year-old center and in many cases they are resorting to fouling Cousins out of sheer necessity.  Through six games, he is averaging 10.5 free throw attempts per game and hitting on 81 percent of those opportunities.  While Cousins is doing damage at the line, his body has taken a beating early in the season.

Gay is also off to a fast start, but it was clear that the veteran forward was off during Friday’s intense double overtime victory over the Suns.  In 48 minutes of action, Gay finished with just 11 points on 5-of-22 shooting and was noticeably ill.

The Kings were nice enough to include an injury key for us to consult moving forward.
