The NBA took a major stand against one of its own Tuesday when commissioner Adam Silver dropped a lifetime ban and a $2.5-million fine on Los Angeles Clippers owner Donald Sterling for racially insensitive comments that came to light over the weekend.

“I am banning Mr. Sterling for life,” Silver said.
