With the sting of the overtime loss to the Dallas Mavericks still fresh, the Sacramento Kings draw the World Champion Miami Heat Saturday evening. The Heat have an Eastern Conference best 23-11 record, but they are riding a two-game losing streak and have lost three of their last four overall.
The world’s best player in LeBron James will be in town to face the Kings and head coach Keith Smart couldn’t have heaped more praise on the perennial MVP frontrunner.
You can try to slow this guy down, everyone in the league has tried since he’s been in the league. You don’t try and stop he or Dwyane Wade. These guys are super, superstars and to say that we’re going to lock a superstar up who’s healthy, is far fetched from what we are trying to accomplish. We’ve just got to make sure our team is playing well, we’re playing with the right energy, we’re playing with the right passion – I know we will. I know we’ll have an electric building and our guys will play at a very high level tomorrow, but you don’t stop those kind of guys. Those guys are to gifted.
DeMarcus Cousins hopes to play tonight after being ejected in the final minute of overtime versus the Mavs. While he hadn’t heard from the league at the time, he said he expected to yesterday. As for the task at hand, he had a few simple keys to the game.
(The key is) to try and contain LeBron and D-Wade and we can’t let anyone else have a career game.
Sounds easy enough.
Tip-off between the Kings and Heat is scheduled for 7 pm at Sleep Train Arena. Follow Cowbell Kingdom for continued pre and postgame coverage throughout the day.
