The Sacramento Kings will give Shabazz Muhammad a second look as part of a six-man workout on Saturday morning.  Muhammad visited Sacramento on June 10th for a pre-draft workout that already seems like a lifetime ago.

The former UCLA wing will get to showcase his talents before new Kings general manager Pete D’Alessandro.  Along with D’Alessandro, newly hired assistant GM Mike Bratz is expected to be present at tomorrow’s workout.  Bratz was in attendance of today’s pre-draft tryout that featured six prospects, including Mike Muscala of Bucknell.

In addition to Bratz, there is an outside shot that former NBA player George McCloud will also be present.  McCloud, who watched today’s workout in Sacramento, is in negotiations to join D’Alessandro’s front office as a scout.

Like Muhammad, the Kings are expected to bring another prospect for a repeat workout next week.  Lehigh’s C.J. McCollum is scheduled for a second look on Monday according to a source within the team.  Both Muhammad and McCollum are projected to be taken somewhere around the seventh pick, where the Kings are selecting in next Thursday’s draft.

Below is the complete list of participants in tomorrow’s workout.

Doug Anderson

  • Age: 22
  • Position: Forward
  • College: Detroit
  • Height: 6-6
  • Weight: 212 lbs.
  • Chad Ford’s Top 100 Ranking: Unranked
  • Quick Breakdown: An incredibly powerful athlete, known for his highlight reel dunks.  As this year’s college slam dunk champion, Anderson needs to show that he’s more Isaiah Rider (the on-court version) and less Harold Miner if he hopes to make the league.

A.J. Davis

  • Age: 25
  • Position: Guard
  • College: James Madison
  • Height: 6-6
  • Weight: 210 lbs.
  • Chad Ford’s Top 100 Ranking: Unranked
  • Quick Breakdown: Another high flyer.  But at 25 years old, it’s hard to see him getting much of a look at the NBA level.

Shabazz Muhammad

  • Age: 20
  • Position: Forward
  • College: UCLA
  • Height: 6-6
  • Weight: 222 lbs.
  • Chad Ford’s Top 100 Ranking: 14
  • Quick Breakdown: Strong, physical player who can score without dominating the ball.  Finishes well at the rim and has good slashing ability.  Must get better at shooting off the dribble, lacks elite athleticism and is a bit one dimensional.  Does his talent warrant the number of off-the-court distractions that have clouded his career?

John Dickson

  • Age: 22
  • Position: Forward
  • College: Sacramento State
  • Height: 6-6
  • Weight: 200 lbs.
  • Chad Ford’s Top 100 Ranking: Unranked
  • Quick Breakdown: A local kid with similar size to Anderson, Davis and Muhammad.  If he hopes to get an NBA call, he is going to have to stand out big time in a workout.

Mfon Udofia

  • Age: 22
  • Position: Point guard
  • College: Georgia Tech
  • Height: 6-2
  • Weight: 187 lbs.
  • Chad Ford’s Top 100 Ranking: Unranked
  • Quick Breakdown: Udofia’s stats progressively declined during his four seasons at Georgia Tech.  A left-handed guard known for his on-ball defense, but difficult to see where his game translates at the NBA level.

Kwame Vaughn

  • Age: 23
  • Position: Guard
  • College: Cal State Fullerton
  • Height: 6-4
  • Weight: 195 lbs.
  • Chad Ford’s Top 100 Ranking: Unranked
  • Quick Breakdown: An aggressive scoring guard with a long wingspan and solid range.
