The Sacramento Kings have officially requested waivers on Hamady Ndiaye this morning.  The 26-year old center from Senegal played in just 14 games this season for the Kings, averaging 0.4 points and 1.3 rebounds in 5.3 minutes per game.

Ndiaye had lost time on the court with the addition of Aaron Gray, who came to Sacramento in the Rudy Gay trade on Dec. 8.  Ndiaye had not played since logging less than a minute of action on Dec. 18 against the Atlanta Hawks.

“We all wish ‘H’ nothing but the best,” Kings head coach Michael Malone said after practice today.  “He came here in the month of September and from day one, he has worked hard.  He brought a smile to the gym every day, competed, brought us energy and when he was given the opportunity to play, he did a good job.  And I really believe that he’s an NBA player.  He should be on somebody’s roster and so we thank him for all that he did for us.”

Sacramento had until 2 pm Pacific time on Jan. 7 to begin the waiver process on Ndiaye, so he could clear waivers before Jan. 10, the day that all NBA contracts become guaranteed.  The Kings’ roster now stands at 13 players.

According to an NBA source, Ndiaye is deciding between going overseas to play or joining the NBA Development League.  If he decides to play in the D-League, Ndiaye would join the Delaware 87ers, who own his rights.
