Sacramento Press Live: Cowbell Kingdom previews Sacramento Kings’ season

[youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KNG31tX1G2M]In our quest to bring you new and interesting ways to digest your Sacramento Kings information, we are partnering with the Sacramento Press for a weekly video chat with editor Jared Goyette.  Like anything else, feedback is always welcome and encouraged.

Today, James Ham discussed the idea of fandom as it pertains to the Oakland Athletics and the Kings, as well as some expectations for both individuals and the Kings as a whole for the 2012-13 season.  Here are a few highlights:

On comparing the A’s and the Kings:

“It feels good to be a fan.  I think the A’s, the way they’ve captured the imagination of baseball, it’s something the Kings are hoping will happen with their team.  It’s something that if the Sacramento Kings can be a lightning rod, if they can win games and not just be the cellar-dweller that they have been for the last 6 or 7 years, then maybe they can bring fans back the way  the way that you should bring fans back – you should bring fans back with a quality product on the floor.  And I think that is what a lot of people are hoping, especially within the franchise.”

On how this Kings’ team can exceed expectations this season:

“If this team can put the egos on the shelf and they can come in and try to make each other better, then they can rise much faster.  Like I said, it’s a team that has been disappointing, not a team that has been on the rise.  It’s a team that has been disappointing over the last couple of seasons and if they can pull it all together and forget the individual statistics and the accolades and just play basketball together as a team, (then) this team could rise really fast.”

These chats will run live at Sacramento Press’ website on Monday mornings and can also be found here at Cowbell Kingdom shortly after their completion.
