Picking up interior help hasn’t worked out perfectly this offseason as the Saints weren’t able to sign a guy in Kendall Langford they hosted before free agency even started, and then they narrowly missed out on having Danny Shelton fall to them. Sean Payton admitted they would have drafted him if the pick ahead of them (Browns) would have gone with Andrus Peat at 12. The Saints did draft Tyeler Davison in the 5th round, but Williams would add more competition in camp – which is needed. Currently the Saints have three true tackles: Brodrick Bunkley, John Jenkins and Lawrence Virgil. Bunkley is coming off a major injury with a torn pectoral, Jenkins was disappointing last year and battled weight problems, and Virgil showed a lot of promise but is unheralded. Williams is 34 and long in the tooth, but a former superstar that played fine for the Seahawks last year. He finished with a fairly neutral -0.3 grade on PFF overall after playing 16 games. The 6 time Pro Bowler (most recently in 2010) turns 35 in August but has been durable his entire career. He finished with 30 tackles and 3 sacks last year.
#Saints host FA DT Kevin Williams on visit, per source. Free agent DT played with #Seattle last season. Drafted in 2003 by #vikings #depth
