Saints Nation: 5 of Saints’ 11 Offensive Starters Headed to Pro Bowl

Saints Nation: 5 of Saints' 11 Offensive Starters Headed to Pro BowlIt’s pretty amazing when you consider almost half of the Saints’ offense is getting elected to go to the Pro Bowl. That’s a testament to just how good they are, and of course they have the #1 ranking to attest to that. Drew Brees, Jahri Evans, Carl Nicks, Jermon Bushrod and Jimmy Graham are all going and very deserving… but honestly Darren Sproles and Marques Colston are two players that probably could have gotten an invite as well. Another starter, fullback Jed Collins, has been listed as an alternate. The Saints also had two alternates on defense (Roman Harper and Malcolm Jenkins) and one on special teams (Thomas Morstead), but hopefully none of these guys will be able to go if the Saints make the Super Bowl.

Drew Brees and Jahri Evans are mainstays at this point of course, and Carl Nicks is now going to his second straight. First timer Jermon Bushrod is a bit of a suprise although he’s had a very solid season overall, and Jimmy Graham was a shoe in based on his record threatening season. Most impressive is that 3 out of the Saints’ 5 offensive lineman are going, and honestly I’ve though Zach Strief at right tackle has had an excellent season himself. Any way you cut it this offense is so good because of Sean Payton’s play designs, play calling, and Drew Brees operating the commands. You could almost put any NFL worthy talent around that and it will succeed. That’s nothing against the very deserving players headed to the Pro Bowl, but you have to tip your hat to the consistency Brees and Payton have been able to maintain in the residency in New Orleans. It’s nice to see the Saints getting recognized because no offense deserves it more.
