Saints Nation: Dolphins Targeting Reggie Bush?

Sooner than later, Reggie Bush will have to weigh his value on the open market versus the contract restructure the Saints offer. The team that may be setting Bush’s market value is the Miami Dolphins. Two other teams that have been listed as possible destinations for Bush according to the rumormill have been the Eagles and the Rams, but the Dolphins seem to be the club most willing to shell out the money necessary to peak Bush’s interest. The Dolphins finished 21st overall offensively last year and 30th in points scored, so to say that they need to add explosiveness and firepower is an understatement. They been using Ronnie Brown and Ricky Williams as their main horses in the backfield the last few years, but Brown is very unlikely to return and they are both unrestricted free agents. The Dolphins invested their 2nd round pick on Daniel Thomas this year which means they’re starting anew with their backfield, but they still need to decide what they’ll do behind Thomas. One thing is for sure, there seems to be more reps to go around in Miami at running back than there is in New Orleans.

To me…

Miami seems like a perfect fit for Bush. It’s nice weather, it’s a chance to jump start his career, make more money, play on grass (so the turf doesn’t cause injuries – sarcasm), keep his high profile, and get more attention on the field. We can’t rule out a return to New Orleans because that still seems to be what Sean Payton wants, at the very least. Don’t be shocked if this is a reality, though, because this is a rumor I find has a lot of merit.
