As expected, the very serious knee injury of Robert Griffith III will keep him out of the Pro Bowl and will vault first alternate Drew Brees into the game. Brees will join Thomas Morstead and Jahri Evans as the Saints players going to the all star game. Many congrats to Brees on making the Pro Bowl yet again, making this is sixth trip with the Saints and seventh overall as a pro. Only Willie Roaf has been to more Pro Bowls as a Saint, seven times.
That wasn't the only piece of big news yesterday as the Saints officially dotted the i's and crossed the t's to get Sean Payton's signature and make the contract official. There had been a previous report that they had agreed to the deal "in principle" but the signature is now official and it's been submitted to the league for approval. It could still get rejected, though, so don't get too excited until Roger Goodell decides not to screw over this Saints this time.
