Drew Brees has been nominated for an ESPY this year, and to quote Kevin Held, he's named as a possible recipient to an award he won't get. This award is supposedly voted on by fans, though, so you can do your part by going here to vote. Why do I think he won't win? It's the anti Saints sentiment that has been percolating for years in the media, reaching a boiling point during Bounty Gate last season.
Brees is up for the award due to his touchdown pass streak where he passed Johnny Unitas record against his old team, the San Diego Chargers. As I can see it, the biggest competition is likely Michael Phelps' record breaking medals at the Olympics, which actually might be more impressive. Anyway, go do your part and vote for our man!!
