Saints Nation: Final Saints’ Player Grades for the 2012 Season

boychukrevenge

With the season officially over, I've included below all the player GPAs for the season. I will be announcing my player awards for the season this week as well, but before I do that you'll get a good sense of who will win what based on these final grades. Perhaps my grading was a little harsher than last year, but you'll see the difference between a 13-3 team and a 7-9 team below. I also included 2011 grades for comparison sake. Most telling is that of the qualifiers (had to be graded in at least 4 games) 25 of the 35 returning players graded worse in 2012 than they did in 2011. So by and large the team didn't see much individual improvement. The biggest drop off was Jimmy Graham, who's GPA dropped 0.91 points from last year. The biggest gain was David Thomas (0.35) with Cam Jordan just behind him. Thomas Morstead ends the season with the team's highest GPA, and while you'll argue it's ridiculous is GPA is so much lower than last year – I contend his kicking off last year was much better which is why his GPA was higher then. Remember he broke an NFL record in 2011, but not in 2012. Johnny Patrick was the lowest GPA among qualifiers, and three of the four worst graded were cornerbacks.
