I think we all collectively felt extremely nervous as Saints fans when Jabari Greer went down last week and never returned to the game in a loss to the Ravens. Greer suffered an undisclosed knee injury which forced Leigh Torrence to play starting cornerback, and that of course resulted in Joe Flacco going after the side Torrence was covering any chance he had. Greer has been listed as a full participant in practice this week, though, so all signs point towards him being ready to go Monday Night. That’s big news considering he’ll be largely responsible for shutting down big mouthed Roddy White. Without Greer, I don’t feel good about the Saints’ ability to cover a top end receiver. Roddy White is such a big part of what the Falcons do offensively that the unavailability of Jabari would spell disaster. Luckily, it looks like he’ll be a go. This news forces a huge sigh of relief.
Conversely, Chris Ivory is apparently still suffering from his injured hamstring and while he’s officially listed as a game time decision, I think there’s a really good chance he’ll be held out of this game as well. The Saints’ running game will depend on a still mending Pierre Thomas and a Reggie Bush with increased reps.
Merry Christmas!
