First off, my apologies for the lack of posting lately. There’s no excuse for it really other than being real busy at my real job and having a 1 year old. Well, that and me winning my first singles tennis tournament of my life this weekend (true story). Only took me 30 years. Ahem… anyway, my goal is typically to post at least once a day and that hasn’t happened lately. I will do my best to improve this. But after all, it is the lockout, and what am I supposed to post about? There is only so much news, and only so many top 10 lists I can come up with (or milk). I do come with some good news, though:
The lockout is possibility slated to END (!!!) on July 21st. If you’ve been following this process with any regularity…
you know to take this good news with a grain of salt because with the egos and volatility at play can make things take a turn for the worst very quickly. Still, it’s no secret that serious progress has been made lately and a deal could be ironed out very soon. The idea that we might be 10 days away from things being locked in(no pun intended)to a new deal is reason for excitement. This would also mean the deluge of rapid free agent signings would start on 7/28.
Worth taking from this ESPN article? THIS:
“The rookie wage scale is the only part I’m worried about,” one source involved in the talks said this weekend. “They’ve finished the other important parts. The only issue left that can cause a problem is the rookie wage scale.”
That’s not that scary when you consider the NFLPA (or whatever they’ll calling it these days) are mostly comprised of veterans who care more about their well being in the league than that of players just entering. Get excited…
