It’s no secret I’m a huge fan of Malcolm Jenkins. I think he embodies every quality you want to have in a pro athlete. He’s strong, he’s extremely intelligent, he’s selfless, he’s physically gifted and he’s got terrific character. He’s an easy guy to root for, and he’s the kind of guy that makes everyone around him better. The consumate teammate. Jenkins has been doing a little resident blogging on NOLA.com and this latest entry is an interesting take on his relationship with Darren Sharper and how the veteran has helped him progress in his recent move to the free safety position.
The part about Q&A that just re-confirms all the feelings I’ve had about Jenkins is that he’s got terrific perspective for such a young player. Having heady and high IQ players that just grasp the game at a faster rate than their peers ultimately gives you difference makers on the field. Jenkins is that person, and make no mistake, his ceiling is much much higher than what we’ve been able to enjoy watching from him thus far.
