So the NFC beats the AFC 55-41, and by virtue of that win, Drew Brees, Carl Nicks, Jahri Evans, Jonathan Vilma and Roman Harper all collect $45,000 checks. Not bad for a meaningless game. That’s about the only notable thing you can take from this game. I thought about taking notes on their performance and reporting how they played, but why bother? No one cared or was really trying out there.
Here’s some stats from our guys to at least cover the basics:
Brees went 4 for 6 for 68 yards, including a 31 yard pass to Atlanta Falcon Tony Gonzalez that made me throw up in my mouth a little bit. Roman Harper had 3 tackles, and Jonathan Vilma had 2. Nicks and Evans played for extended time out there, and both did fine. Evans had a nice lead block on a 1 yard touchdown run by another Falcon, fullback Ovie Mughelli. The NFC featured WAYYYY too many Falcons players. I actually found it very difficult to “root” for them, even with a few Saints players on the team. Something about Jahri Evans blocking for Michael Turner and Matt Ryan just made me really sick to my stomach. At least Roddy White didn’t get to score, or catch a pass from Brees.
This game was like all other Pro Bowls: boring. Lame. A waste of time. Etc etc… Thankfully no one got injured, so we can at least. The game’s last score was a 40 yard run off of a lateral by the AFC center. Defenders were laughing at him as he rolled into the end zone. Roman Harper hit him with his shoulder pads before running the other way to let him score. It was pathetic. Why even have this game? Congrats to Alex Mack for scoring though, I guess. We can now mercifully put this farce of a game behind us and move on to the Super Bowl. While I’m not that excited about the Super Bowl, it will be nice to watch players trying again. No more watching Brees throw the football for a while now. Hope you got your fill.
