The Saints take on the Texans today for their first home preseason game of the 2010 season. The game is slated for 7pm central time and it will not be available on national television. The game will be re-broadcast at 12 Midnight (Central Time) on NFL Network on Saturday night.Last time the Saints geared up to play I mentioned special teams as an area I’d be paying close attention to, and the Saints disappointed pretty significantly. Here are things to look for in the game:
— The Saints will hold out Darren Sharper, Clint Ingram, and Jimmy Graham for certain. Jon Stinchcomb, Ladell Betts, Patrick Robinson, Jason McKie (because he was just added), Usama Young, Thomas Morstead and Stanley Arnoux are all banged up as well and questionable to play.
— For me to feel better after what I saw in the Patriots game, the tackling is going to need to be much better.
— I’m focused on special teams again, specifically coverage units. Their showing cannot possibly be any worse this week, can it?
— Will we see rookie quarterback Sean Canfield playing some snaps this week? I’m looking forward to seeing what he can do in a game situation.
— Will veteran receiver Mark Bradley get any significant playing time, and if so, will he do anything?
— Does Jonathan Casillas confirm he deserves his recent promotion to the starting lineup? Does Jo-Lonn Dunbar do anything about it?
— Will Garrett Hartley punt again or is Morstead good to go? If Morstead plays, will the Saints give Hartley kickoff duties this week? I think they should.
— Is Chip Vaugn going to show us anything??
— Who makes a case for themselves as the number 3 running back?
Enjoy the game and geaux Saints!
