Now that he’s a member of the Saints, I figured I’d learn more about Ben Grubbs by catching up with esteemed blogger Tony Lombardi of Ravens 24×7. No one knows more about the Ravens than this guy, so make sure you go check out his site. Many thanks to Tony for taking the time to give us his take on Grubbs. Here is what he had to say:
“Ben is a player the Ravens would have loved to have kept. He’s a solid left guard who consistently plays at a near Pro Bowl level. He shows athleticism out in space and can trap block effectively. Grubbs is also an above average pass protector who uses his hands well. If there’s a knock on Grubbs it’s that he isn’t a pile driver (and I don’t sense that’s something the Saints need) but he can be overpowered at times at the point of attack — case in point, Vince Wilfork in the AFCC Game. Grubbs is also a good teammate and a willing participant in the community. Baltimore will miss Ben and we all wish him the best. Hopefully we’ll get to see all of you in New Orleans in February.”
