Slightly overshadowed by the Saints exciting last second 25-22 win was the injury to Reggie Bush. No news yet on the extent, but it looked like his knee and it looked bad. I just hope he’s not out for the year, but I have a bad feeling. It’s VERY late, so here’s my thoughts on the game quickly bullet style:
— Very tough and gritty win for the Saints. It was on the road against a good defense, good running attack, and a desperate team. Any road win is good, and this was a tough one. Like the Saints last year, they found a way to win a tough game.
— What is with the Saints running backs this year? Hamilton is out for the year, P.J. Hill is out for the year, Chris Ivory hasn’t been active due to a knee injury, and now Bush hurt his knee. Pierre Thomas is still healthy, but behind him we only have DeShawn Wynn. I wonder if Ladell Betts comes back to the Saints now? Who can they even pick up? I wonder if they trade a draft pick for a decent back at this point.
— Where is our pass rush? Will Smith and Alex Brown have to do better.
— Garrett Hartley went 3 for 3, including the game winner as the clock ran out. Nice bounce back after last week.
— Jonathan Vilma and Roman Harper, overall, were both very very good.
— Courtney Roby was arguably the player of the game. Outstanding special team effort by him. Anyone who doesn’t realize how crucial he is to the team’s success is not paying attention.
— Did Robert Meachem get hurt?? Where on earth was he?
— Passing the ball to Pierre Thomas got a little predictable.
— Is it just me or did Tracy Porter and Jabari Greer cover a little less well than usual?
That’s about all I got. I’ll be going to bed tonight worried about Reggie Bush. I think most of will. I fear there’s going to be terrible news ahead, but let’s just hope for the best.
