Injuries are already rearing their ugly head and the Saints are at risk of being without half their starting defensive backfield in tomorrow’s game against the Bears. Listed as “questionable” are Tracy Porter, Roman Harper and Lance Moore. On top of that, Carl Nicks is “probable” with an illness, Tom Johnson is still questionable with a calf injury, and Marques Colston and Garrett Hartley are both “out” as expected.
Of the three main questionable guys that have a chance to play, I feel best about Harper and Moore. Moore has been dealing with a groin injury for a while now, but he was limited all week in practice and didn’t sit out fully any day. With Colston out the Saints need him back in the lineup so I expect him to play. After missing a couple days of practice with a sprained ankle, Roman Harper was also limited the last couple of days at practice, so I think he’ll play. He’s playing on the turf in the Dome where footing should be less suspect so that will help his chances of going. Tracy Porter is the biggest question mark. He sat out of practice the last couple of days with tightness in his calf and while Sean Payton insisted that was just a precaution, guys that don’t practice typically don’t play. No Porter would mean increased reps for Patrick Robinson and Leigh Torrence which makes me incredibly nervous.
Let’s hope Harper, Moore and Porter all play. Those three and crucial components to the team and the Saints need them to increase their chances of winning.
