Saints Nation: Saints Rally in the Most Improbable Fashion, Beat Redskins in Overtime 33-30

Saints Nation: Saints Rally in the Most Improbable Fashion, Beat Redskins in Overtime 33-30If you missed that game and you’re a Saints fan, your health is probably better off for it. Despite being down two scores multiple times, the Saints capped the most unlikely of rallies with an 18 yard Garrett Hartley field goal in overtime to give the Saints a 33-30 win. The defense was by and large horrendous, especially against the pass, but they came up with two game changing turnovers down the stretch and they benefited from a shocking Shaun Suisham chip shot miss late with the Redskins up 7. The Saints got a MAMMOTH performance from Robert Meachem throughout the game and at the most crucial of moments.

My takes on the game:
–LaRon Landry ran his mouth the entire game. As much as I love his game and root for him due to his LSU roots, the guy was really getting on my nerves. It was nice to see him get beat deep twice based on the way he was acting, but he also made a ton of plays.
— Robert Meachem and Devery Henderson are the Saints’ best receivers right now.
— Garrett Hartley was awesome. Can’t blame him for the 58yd miss as time expired. He should be our kicker next week too based on that performance. I wonder if this signals the end for Carney, or if the Saints will hang on to both a little longer?
— The starting corners, Mike McKenzie and Malcolm Jenkins, were both horrendous. Jabari Greer can’t get back soon enough. Tracy Porter and Randall Gay too.
— Charles Grant was awful.
— Roman Harper was awful.
— Nice to see Shockey back in the mix after a couple of quiet weeks.
— Tough sledding today for the Saints’ running backs. Bell and Thomas were stifled all game long. This was the first time this season I saw the offensive line really get manhandled.
— It looks like Mike McKenzie left with an undisclosed injury, and Jo-Lonn Dunbar left early with what looked like a hamstring pull.
