Saints Nation: Saints’ Roster Set at 90

ajpscoreboard

The Saints' roster is now set at 90 after they officially announced moves this morning. Signed are DE Baraka Atkins (4th round pick of Seahawks in 2007), WR Brent Leonard (undrafted rookie from UL-Monroe), CB Korey Lindsey (7th round pick of Bengals in 2011), K Jose Maltos (undrafted rookie from Mexico), RB Khiry Robinson (undrafted rookie from West Texas A&M) and G Jeremiah Warren (undrafted 1 year vet out of South Florida, was briefly on Patriots and Cardinals).

To make room for all these guys the Saints did have to release three players, which were recently signed undrafted rookies RB Shawne Alston, CB Ryan Lacy and C Ryan Lee. You never know, but I don't view these signings as that notable with the possible exception of Jose Maltos who I understand the Patriots were in pursuit of to get into camp. I'm assuming Maltos picked New Orleans because of it's much closer proximity to Mexico and everything I've heard about him so far is that he's a very solid kicker. If any of these guys pose a threat to the 53 man roster, it's probably him. Garrett Hartley will have to be on point in training camp and preseason to keep his job.
