After the failed experiment with Shaun Rogers and Aubrayo Franklin, the Saints have turned to a familiar face. Defensive tackle Remi Ayodele, fresh off a season with the Minnesota Vikings where he started 13 games, is returning to New Orleans after signing a one year deal. Ayodele, who originally came to the NFL as an undrafted free agent, finished last year with 15 tackles and 1.5 sacks while appearing in 16 games with a heavy rotation. He was a member of the Saints from 2008 to 2010 and was a starter on the Super Bowl champion team.
I’m glad to see him back as Ayodele is a solid run stuffer that offers in my opinion a similar performance to what we saw from Franklin a year ago at what I can only assume is a much lower figure. My favorite memory of Ayodele was a touchdown he scored on a fumble recovery in the end zone against the Jets in 2009 that prompted Bobby Hebert to act like a buffoon in the press box of the Superdome:
