Along with Deuce McAllister, Dalton Hilliard and Pat Swilling, Sammy Knight was one of my favorite Saints players of all time. Knight will be inducted into the Saints’ Hall of Fame for his time with the Saints (1997-2002) in which he totaled 28 interceptions, 4 touchdowns and a Pro Bowl birth. Simply put: Knight was the best defensive back in the history of the team. He was an undrafted rookie free agent out of USC but that never stopped him from becoming a dominant player in the NFL thanks to his nose for the football. He was always in the right place at the right time.
I can’t think of a player that would make me happier to see in the Saints’ Hall of Fame, or a guy more deserving. Congrats #29 and thanks for the memories!
