Saints Nation: Thoughts on Randy Moss to Vikings

randy moss Minnesota fans everywhere are rejoicing at the idea of Randy Moss coming back to the Vikings. If you click HERE, it will take you to the Purple Jesus Diaries, the Vikings blog for the Bloguin Network.

Here’s a quote for you:

“even at the age of 33, Randy Moss may be getting his afro traded back to the Vikings to finish out the rest of the 2010 season (and maybe beyond!) with Brett Favre, Percy Harvin, Jared Allen, Adrian Peterson, Visanthe Shiancoe, Antoine Winfield, Pat Williams, Kevin Williams, Jim Kleinsasser, and sure, even Bryant McKinnie. Get out of here with that line up. Toss in Sidney Rice if you want to when he gets healthy too. That is ridiculous.”

Looks like they’re already prepared to accept the Lombardi trophy in Minnesota based on the recent news.

My opinion? Brett Favre to Randy Moss sounds really scary… SEVEN YEARS AGO. Yes, Randy Moss is still an elite receiver, but he’s not the best anymore. Brett Favre is DEFINITELY NOT an elite quarterback anymore. The entire nation has turned on Brett Favre with his tired antics the last few seasons, and it turned on Randy Moss the minute he was born, pretty much. We already saw it in New York, Brett Favre is a handful of bad games away from having his teammates turn on him. And, well, we know Randy Moss’ team can turn on him when things are going well. So now you have two players that aren’t good enough to win on their own anymore, with their egos and team imploding potential as big as they were in their prime, if not bigger. Brett Favre thinks he’s too good for practice and training camp now. Moss, at 33, thinks he deserves $10 million a year and a nice hefty signing bonus right before the league potentially goes on lockout. Interesting timing there, trying to get rich before the league shuts down. We’ve got two selfish, egocentric, over the hill, former superstars. The bottom line is both players’ production is declining to the point where the PR and locker room nightmares they cause are not worth the trouble.

I know I wouldn’t want either player on my team. Can they still win games? No doubt about it. Are the Vikings good enough to win the Super Bowl now that they have Randy Moss? Maybe. But they won’t go all the way. Why? Because you need to have heart and character to take it all the way. Neither player has both of those attributes.
