Saints Nation: Willie Roaf Enshrined Into Hall of Fame

It’s been an amazing weekend for me so far in Canton. I’ve included some pictures on twitter if you follow my feed to share the experience as much as possible with you. I met several players, staff members and coaches and most were very friendly and accomodating. I have to say Joe Vitt was probably the best experience of the bunch (pictured). He was very engaging, asked me where I was from, and we talked for a good 5 minutes. I can see why the Saints picked him to fill in for Sean Payton. He’s got great conversational skills and you can tell he’s an honest and bright guy. I have zero doubts the players respond to him with the utmost of respect. He’s a guy you can’t help but like.

More importantly, the reason I was there last night, was the enshrinement ceremony of Willie Roaf – one of the greatest all time Saints in history

, if not the greatest. I have to say, it was a bit of an emotional ceremony for any Saints fan. You could tell how much the honor meant to him and his family, as a quiet and humble kid out of Pine Bluff, Arkansas. To have the Saints players all there to encourage him was a nice move by the organization. Anyone that can go to the Hall of Fame, I strongly recommend you do so. It really is amazing and on a weekend like this the greats are staying everything. You can run into an NFL superstar at any given moment. I’ve already run into Trent Green, Kevin Mawae and Earl Campbell by doing nothing but just hanging out at my hotel. Next time a Saint makes it in, presumably Drew Brees, I will definitely come back.

Congratulations to #77 Willie Roaf, you could not be more deserving of this ultimate award. I will be meeting him today at a signing I’ve got lined up, so I’ll be sure to report back on that with some pictures. I’ll be on the field for warm ups as well, so I’ll include pictures like yesterday. Enjoy the game today and preseason is under way. WHO DAT!
