Most of you will remember this play as one of the most defining moments of the 2010 season. With the Saints down 3 in Cincinnati and the ball in the red zone, they faced a 4th and 2. Brees was able to draw the Bengals offsides which would then lead to an easy touchdown toss. We later learned that the Saints had no intentions of ever snapping the ball, but they were able to catch the Bengals off guard. This play was a true testament to Sean Payton’s high football IQ. A genius call at that moment in the game. He easily could have trotted out Garrett Hartley in that situation to tie the game, but he wanted to try to draw them off before he did. It worked. Below is the replay of the play, and below that is Saints’ guard Carl Nicks giving his personal take on the play in question.
