This is one we didn’t see coming now, but definitely eventually. Junior Galette is no longer a member of the New Orleans Saints. Confirmed by a couple media outlets:
The #saints have just released Junior Galette.

The #Saints are releasing Junior Galette, source said. They’ve paid him $18M since last year. Wow. — Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet) July 24, 2015

My guess is this could mean Galette is staring at the possibility of a lengthy suspension from the NFL and the Saints were getting ahead of it. Any way you slice it this makes the financial investment in Galette just last year and the massive $10 million roster bonus he just received a disaster. You cannot make investments like this and expect to be successful. This was a major whiff by the Saints, as bad of one as Mickey Loomis and Sean Payton have made in their tenure in New Orleans.
What does this mean on the field? The Saints are somewhat set up to cushion this blow with Anthony Spencer, Hau’oli Kikaha and Kasim Edebali on the roster. Don’t forgot Galette has a significant pectoral injury as well which was supposed to limit him for an extended period of time as well.
