It’s never too late to get involved in free agency, apparently. The Saints are thin at receiver so they added a veteran to the mix in Vincent Brown. This much we expected:

I texted my buddy who’s a diehard Chargers fan to see what he thought. He’s a bit pessimistic by nature and he’s usually quick to flame on former Chargers so I was expecting some shade to be thrown. His text back? “He blows. Very much so. He went to SDSU and I think he stuck around so long based on that,” also adding, “We had injuries where literally anyone could play WR the past 2 years and he still did nothing to earn a job. We started Seyi Ajirotutu TWICE in this period.”
I was expecting my friend to put Brown on blast but this isn’t exactly a ringing endorsement. Still, I view Snead, Cooks, Michael Thomas and maybe Brandon Coleman as virtual locks to make the team. After that, if the Saints keep a 5th receiver, it’s really anyone’s job for the taking. Brown competing against a bunch of no name youngsters works, may the best player win a roster spot.
Brown has just 73 career catches and 3 career touchdowns in five seasons.
