Ah, baseball. She’s a fickle mistress.
The Brewers faced the A’s Friday in the second game of their home-and-home series. Only, this time, the A’s were at home…and ready–the A’s exacted their revenge in an 11-4 pasting of the Crew.
Dave Bush was the culprit–after surrending a pair of hits and a walk, he served up a grand slam to Jack Cust and reminded fans of numerous starts from his ’07 season. Manny Parra also served up a homer to Cust, while Derrick Turnbow and Eric Gagne also allowed 2 and 3 earned runs each, respectively.
The offense collected 11 hits, including Prince Fielder and Corey Hart both going 2-for-3 on the day. Gabe Gross also collected a solo shot in the 7th.
Next up: Ben Sheets makes his ’08 Cactus League debut Saturday against the NL Champion Colorado Rockies.
