Lyle Richardson at Spector’s Hockey wonders if Glen Sather might file for salary arbitration for RFAs Ryan Callahan and Brandon Dubinsky, which would make them ineligible to receive offer sheets. Sather employed this tactic before with Henrik Lundqvist.
…hopefully, all parties involved can get this taken care of before July 1st, but you have to wonder how a move like that would effect the two players’ thinking. Especially Dubinsky who had messy negotiations with the Rangers two years ago.
…similar to Staal negotiations last year, I’m really hoping the Rangers don’t overpay for either of these guys. While they are tremendous pieces of this organization going forward Sather needs to remember that they’re still just second line guys on their best day. Overpaying will seriously hamper Sather’s ability to bring in a top UFA forward.
