When Brian Scalabrine announced he was returning to Boston over the summer, no one was happier than the crew here at Red’s Army. We’ve long been supporters of the White Mamba, and are thrilled that he’ll be a part of the Celtics’ broadcast crew for the upcoming season.

Two Gingers Irish Whiskey sponsored “Welcome Home Scal” last night at the Battery Park Bar & Lounge in Boston:

On Tuesday, October 21, professional basketball world champion and everyone’s favorite 6’9” redhead, Brian Scalabrine, made his much-anticipated return to Boston at his official “Welcome Home” celebration, sponsored by 2 GINGERS® Irish Whiskey. Scalabrine, one of Boston’s biggest gingers, was behind the bar mixing up 2 GINGERS® signature cocktails – the BIG GINGER® and the SKINNY GINGER® – to his loyal fans.

The folks at Two Gingers were kind enough to arrange a sit-down with myself and Scal. As usual, Scalabrine was fantastic. We spoke about how dedicated and loyal Boston fans are, how they compare to fan bases in Chicago and Oakland and of course about Rajon Rondo and his detractors.

Scal is extremely happy to be back in the 617 area code and the feeling is mutual. As far as color commentary goes, I feel Scalabrine is a perfect fit to be Tommy’s successor. His knowledge of the game and experience with the Celtics franchise more than qualify him. Couple those with his down-to-earth persona and great connection to the fans, and you’ve got yourself the man for the job.

Big thanks to Ruben at Two Gingers and of course to the White Mamba.
