Curt Schilling has announced he will test free agency after 2007 because the Red Sox are not willing to sign him to an extension either before or during the season. This does not rule out a return to the Red Sox at all, but Schilling will entertain offers from other teams. (Of course, he also said he was retiring after 2007, so things change.) I’m fully convinced that even if we lose Schilling to another team, this is the right course of action to take.
