Recently, the New Jersey Devils elected to avoid extending veteran Scott Gomez a professional tryout offer for training camp. The St. Louis Blues took the opportunity to invite Gomez to a professional tryout of their own and he has accepted the offer.

While the Devils are looking to younger players on their roster, the Blues see Gomez as an opportunity to add some veteran experience should the team’s youth fail to impress during training camp. At 35, Gomez is in the twilight of his career, but he was able to contribute 34 points across 58 games for the Devils.
Gomez certainly has his faults (remember the website which tallied how long it had been between Gomez goals?), but he could be a nice depth add if he has a solid tryout.
