Pacers will not buyout James Posey, source says. Scratch him off the list of potential free agent pickups for contenders.
Mannix is single-handledly squashing all my trade deadline hopes and dreams. First he nixes the deal for Shane Battier (he elaborated on WEEI this morning), and now James Posey is off the table.
No updates on where the Celtics stand with Anthony Parker. Clippers guard Rasual Butler's name is also popping up.
If you haven't seen it, WEEI's Paul Flannery offered up his take on the Knicks deal for Carmelo Anthony and what it means to the Celtics. You only have to read the opening paragraph to grasp the general theme:
The Knicks finally got Carmelo Anthony and all it took was trading two of their top three wing players, their point guard, a young 7-footer, draft picks and $6 million of cash. All that for a player who is not a top-10 talent and who in seven years in the NBA has made it out of the first round of the playoffs once.
A refreshing take on Melo – one that I agree with.
