Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson made his intentions of getting a deal done immediately very clear. Just as his personal deadline for an extension, which he set for the beginning of camp, came drawing near, ESPN reports that Wilson and the Seahawks have agreed to a four-year, $87.6M extension.
Wilson’s new deal includes a hefty $31M signing bonus. Most notably, Wilson will also receive $60M guaranteed, tying him with Panthers quarterback Cam Newton for third among current QB contracts.
Wilson officially announced the new deal via his Twitter:
Blessed to be w/ this organization for 4 more years! Can't wait to get on field w/ the fellas! @Seahawks #ChampionshipMindset #GoHawks

Coming off an impressive Superbowl win two seasons ago and a crushing defeat on the same stage this past season, Wilson and the Seahawks look to re-charge and dominate the NFC.
At 26 years old and entering his fourth NFL season, Wilson has the most regular season wins, post season wins, and Superbowl starts through his first three campaigns.
While there has been much back and forth debate as to whether Wilson has truly reached elite status, his talent, both through the air and on the ground, can not be denied.
Wilson wanted to be paid like a top NFL quarterback, and he has certainly made strides towards that goal. The only quarterback who will earn more per year is Green Bay’s Aaron Rodgers, the highest paid QB in the league.
While the debate over the number is too high or just right for Wilson will only heat up from here, we can expect the Superbowl champion to earn every penny on the field.
