Redskins.com reports that safety Sean Taylor has joined the team for the second week of OTAs at Redskins Park.
Taylor skipped the first week of the voluntary activity, raising concern that he might be disgruntled about his contract. Taylor is signed through 2008.
The Washington Redskins selected LSU safety LaRon Landry in the first round of the 2007 draft with the intent to pair him with Taylor in the secondary. Taylor, who was the Redskins’ first round draft selection in 2004, has always expressed dissatisfaction with his with his rookie contract. Some observers are concerned that drafting Landry might aggravate the matter with Taylor.
While questioning the team’s decision to pass on drafting a pass-rushing defensive end, fans have embraced Landry. The thought of having two safety “enforcers” intrigues assistant head coach Gregg Williams, who recently announced that Landry would play strong safety, freeing Taylor to be a disruptive free safety.
