Wisconsin’s magical run to the 2014 Final Four was one of the great story lines of the NCAA tournament. Bo Ryan and the Badgers are back for more in the 2014-15 season and a repeat trip to the Final Four is not out of the question.
Frank Kaminsky, who was the West Regional’s Most Outstanding Player, scored 28 points and grabbed 11 rebounds against No. 1 seed Arizona to head to Dallas for the Final Four. Kaminsky is just one of Wisconsin’s great players and he is currently the favorite to win National Player of the Year by many college basketball experts.
There were only two departures from last year’s Final Four squad. The biggest loss was senior Ben Burst. However, Wisconsin is returning Sam Dekker, Traveon Jackson, Josh Gasser, Nigel Hayes and the aforementioned Frank Kaminsky.
According to TiqIQ, Wisconsin basketball tickets are already rising on the secondary market for this year’s home games at the Kohl Center. Last season, tickets cost on average $66.79 to attend a Badgers game. This year, the season average is already up to $81.13 on the secondary ticket market. The loaded Big Ten schedule means the Badgers will be tested night-in and night-out from January to March but before the Badgers get to conference play, they’ll face a tough non-conference slate. The biggest matchup will be against No. 4 Duke on December 3rd at the Kohl Center. Right now, fans can expect to pay an astronomical $313.43 on the secondary ticket market, which is 386 percent higher than the average price. Currently, the get-in price is at $159. Expect those prices to go up in the next few weeks if both teams stay in the top five of the polls.
While we mentioned some big conference match ups, Wisconsin’s game against Michigan State on March 1st is one of the biggest. $154.63 is the current average ticket price on the secondary ticket market while $84 is the current get-in price. Michigan State tied Wisconsin for second place with a 12-6 record in the Big Ten last season. Currently ranked at No. 18, the Spartans are expected to contend for the Big Ten title per usual under squads led by head coach Tom Izzo. This matchup will be Frank Kaminsky’s senior night in what could be an emotional night for Wisconsin fans as Kaminsky looks to become the first Badger to become a consensus All American since Jordan Taylor in 2011.
